Random Recommendations for Writers

You know when you tell your friends about the latest life hack you discovered? This is the writer equivalent. The coolest, bestest stuff I can’t live without. And no, no one paid me for an endorsement – these are things I believe in.

Blogs & Info:

The Passive Voice – ‘a lawyer’s thoughts on authors, self-publishing and traditional Publishing’ – writing info from around the internet. I read it every single day, and can glean trends from it.

Top Picks Thursday from The Author Chronicles – Best compilation of craft, inspiration, marketing and miscellaneous info from the internet. I skim it, and save stuff to read later. Excellent source

Self-publishing

Editorial Service – 3 words: Tiffany Yates Martin She’s busy, not cheap, and worth every penny. If you can’t swing that, get her book, Intuitive Editing. There’s a reason it’s been on the bestseller list since it came out. It can teach you how to back up and see your book (and it’s flaws) from a distance. Best editing book I’ve found.

CoversDalim on 99Designs Fast, professional, beautiful work, and won’t eat up all your profit from the book. Here’s examples of what she did for me:

Overall Cool Stuff

Media Mail from home through Paypal – Did you know that you can print out and send medial mail (paperbacks) from HOME now? This was huge for me. No more waiting in line at the Post office to send out arcs, winners copies . . . seriously life-changing. Connect your Paypal account to your bank account or CC, buy two-to-a-sheet labels, and bingo! Here’s the link: https://www.paypal.com/shiplabel/create/

Book recommendation – Last, and nowhere near least, this is the best book I’ve read in a long time. If you like Women’s Fiction, and can handle tough subjects, this one’s for you! 5 Stars.

Blind Turn

Okay, that’s it from me – won’t you share what cool stuff you’ve got in the comments?

Thanks for the shout-out Laura – and for the other recommendations. Generous writers are my favorite kind! Will check out those blogs.
