In honor of Women’s Fiction Day, I’m giving away two copies of The Road to Me!
In case you’re not familiar, this is what the book is about:
Jacqueline Oliver is an indie perfumer, trying to bury her ravaged childhood by shoveling ground under her own feet. Then she gets a call she dreads—the hippie grandmother she bitterly resents was apprehended when police busted a charlatan shaman’s sweat lodge. Others scattered, but Nellie was slowed by her walker, and the fact that she was wearing nothing but a few Mardi-Gras beads. Jacqueline is her only kin, so like it or not, she’s responsible.
Despite being late developing next year’s scent, she drops everything to travel to Arizona and pick up her free-range grandma. But the Universe conspires to set them on a Route 66 road trip together. What Jacqueline discovers out there could not only heal the scars of her childhood but open her to a brighter future.
All you need to do to be entered is leave me a comment, telling me about your last road trip – where did you go? Who did you go with?
I’ll update this post with the winners, tomorrow!
But wait – there’s more!
Keep your eye out for the above graphic on social media, to win not only my book, but Topanga Canyon, by Elizabeth Waffler!
Can’t recall the last road trip I went on — it’s been that long!!
Time to plan another, right?
My husband and I took a road trip to our beach at Kakanui , South island, New Zealand , where we collected seaweed for our garden
Wow, sounds amazing!
We drove down to Missouri from Michigan to watch our son graduate from Basic/AIT training at Fort Leonard Wood. My husband, sister in law, myself, two daughters and one of their boyfriends.
So happy to hear of young people signing up. Thanks for his service.
Hi, I went to Maine just this past weekend for a girl’s trip! The road there was extra long because of traffic!
Yeah, but if you were with girlfriends, who cares, right?
I went to Houston to teach a conference, however, I stopped in New Braunfels to spend time with one of my best friends and was joined by another good friend for the rest of the trip. It was a great way to spend that windshield time.
No kidding!
We don’t do many road trips, the husband can’t sit still for that long! I think the last one was in 2017 to Disneyland!
I get it – all our trips were on motorcycles. So much better for my back – and my attitude!
I believe mlast road trip was from Massachusetts to Florida with a boyfriend. He did most of the driving and we did stop in a few places along the way (like Savanah … at 2:00 AM 🙄. Mostly, though, my memory of it was that I would never want to do it like that (or with him) again.
I think I’d much rather have a group of girlfriends join me as we head across Route 66 with all the time in the world to stop wherever we wanted.
Grew up a Michigan snowbird – I’ve taken that trip many times! You’re right. It’s brutal.
My last road trip was to Oceanside CA, with my family.
Love Oceanside, but man, it’s changed SO much in the past 20 years!
My daughter and I drove four hours to Virginia to see my sister and her kids.
And good mom/girl time on the way – that’s the best!
My last roadtrip was to Traverse City with my son last fall. We drove up there to enjoy the fall colors and the apple festival. It was so much fun, something I’d definitely love to make a tradition…when gas prices aren’t as high as they are!!
I lived in Petoskey for a couple years – One of the best parts of the world – especially in the fall!
Last road trip was on Mother’s day to my daughter’s house about an hour and a half away. She was going to come here but had baby kitties to bottle feed.
Awwwww, kittens! I’d drive that far for that!
My last big road trip was a couple of years ago, after my dad died, before my mom died. I went down to the Smokey mountains for an art retreat, by myself. I loved it. The best part was a special day- I got to take my first flying lesson during that trip… over the great Smokey mountains!
So sorry for your too many losses. But glad you got some you time.
My husband and I traveled throughout WI and Michigan visiting many of the waterfalls. It was exhilarating and magical standing before them and following the trails to them. We kept bumping into one younger couple who were doing the same thing. It was the week of their first wedding anniversary. Quite a memorable way to celebrate it.
Just got back from a road trip from south Kentucky to Michigan and back
Can’t beat Michigan nature, that’s for sure.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a road trip! I tend to prefer short trips these days! Lol.
Especially with the gas prices! Trip to the grocery store is too far!
I went to Florida with my husband and kids.
I went to FL in May – love it down there!
A big group of us friends decided to take a trip to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
What a blast!
My last road trip was this past Sunday. Drove 8 + hours to southern West Virginia to spend some much needed time with my mom and her sister. My best friend came down with me. She and I have been doing this trip for the last 3 years.
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
So glad you visited them. Cherish the time – you’re making memories you’ll be happy to have one day….
